The International Biology Bowl draws participants from all over the world. By creating thought-provoking, inspiring questions, the IBB aims to foster a deep interest in the biological sciences in students around the globe, enhance their scientific literacy and teamwork skills, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Since its inception in 2009, the IBB has welcomed over 4,000 participants from more than 25 countries and regions. The IBB is conducted in teams of up to four participants, who must answer a series of challenging biology questions. Difficulty of the questions range from AP Biology to USA Biology Olympiad Open/Semifinals Round, covering topics such as Cell Biology & Biochemistry, Ecology, Genetics and Bioinformatics.
The IBB provides a platform for Chinese students to demonstrate their biological knowledge and encouraging global collaboration and communication among young talents in the field. The Top Teams will have the opportunity to be invited to the International Round. Among them, the top four teams that receive the Winner Award in the IBB China Semifinal Round (Advanced Division) will directly advance to the global semifinals, competing for top honors alongside leading teams from the USA Biology Bowl and the Asian Biology Bowl.
